News 29-08-23: Assistant Superintendent Alanga Barman of Birgunj Police Station sustained injuries when a group of individuals involved in gambling attacked him in Nazrul Colony of Mailak village on Sunday evening. The incident occurred during a police operation to raid a gambling den based on confidential information. As a result of the operation, two gamblers, namely Ganesh Saha (40) and Sanjib Hussain (33), were apprehended by the police.
Upon realizing the presence of the police in the area, the gamblers attempted to escape and turned aggressive. While some managed to flee, two of them were captured by the police and subsequently arrested.
Concurrently, law enforcement officials rushed the injured officer to Amarpur Hospital in a critical condition. Medical professionals administered initial treatment and then referred him to GB Hospital for more advanced care. Upon receiving news of the incident, senior police officers, including Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Debanjali Roy, hastened to the hospital to inquire about the officer’s condition and treatment progress.
