Agartala, 04 Nov 2026: In a significant development, NCC Police have detained three youths in connection with a suspected NIOS answer script scandal in the Nandannagar area. During a raid, police seized several answer scripts belonging to the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), including those of Class 10 and Class 12.
Speaking to the media, NCC Police Station Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das said police received specific information that some individuals had collected NIOS answer scripts in the Nandannagar area and allegedly intended to use them for illegal purposes.
Acting on the information, SI Brihannala Jamatia, along with other police personnel, conducted a raid in the area and detained three individuals. Several answer scripts were recovered from their possession.
Police subsequently registered a suo motu case at NCC Police Station, numbered 93/2026, under Sections 318(4), 336(3), 340(2) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the OC, two of the detained individuals are residents of areas under Baijalbari Police Station, while the third belongs to the jurisdiction of Takarjala Police Station. Police will produce them before the court, seeking police remand for further interrogation.
The OC clarified that the seized documents are answer scripts, not question papers. Some of the recovered scripts reportedly contained students’ names and roll numbers, while others were blank.
Police also confirmed that the examination associated with the seized answer scripts had already been conducted, with the documents bearing the date of the 2nd.
However, investigators are yet to establish whether the seized answer scripts are genuine or forged, or from which institution they were obtained. Police are also investigating whether other individuals are involved in the suspected racket.
Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
