Tripura, 23 Oct 2026: Kalyanpur Police seized a large quantity of foreign liquor from a shop at Moharchhara Market during a raid conducted on Friday, following a tip-off about the alleged illegal stock of liquor.
Acting on the information received at around 1 pm, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Anjan Debbarma raided the shop at approximately 1:30 pm and recovered a substantial quantity of foreign liquor. The seized liquor is estimated to be worth between ₹25,000 and ₹30,000.
Police arrested the shop owner on suspicion of involvement in the illegal liquor trade and brought him to Kalyanpur Police Station for further investigation.
Sub-Inspector Anjan Debbarma confirmed the estimated value of the seized liquor. A case has been registered under the relevant legal provisions, and further legal proceedings are underway.
Police stated that operations against the illegal liquor trade would continue in the area.
