Agartala, 17 October 2026: Tripur Kshatriya Samaj (TKS) observed Mahasaptami Puja on 17 October 2026, marking a significant moment in the revival of the traditional religious and cultural heritage of the Tipra people. After a long period, the organisation renewed this age-old tradition, with the occasion holding special significance following the merger agreement. It marked the first-ever Sri Durga (Osha) Archana performed by Tripur Kshatriya Samaj since the merger agreement.
The puja was performed with deep devotion and traditional rituals, including the offering of a garland of 108 lotuses, Risa Sorbangi, and other auspicious items to the Divine Mother. The ceremony reflected the community’s commitment to preserving its ancestral customs, spiritual beliefs, and cultural identity.
In Tipra tradition, Maa Durga, revered as Osha, is regarded as the Universal Mother who visits her children during this auspicious period. She is worshipped as the divine source of Vidya (knowledge), Buddhi (wisdom), Shakti (strength and power), and Sampatti (prosperity). The occasion symbolises the sacred bond between the Mother Goddess and her children, inspiring devotion, courage, unity, and well-being.
As part of their ancestral Kshatriya tradition, the worship also included the offering of non-vegetarian bhog to the Goddess, in accordance with the community’s customary religious practices. The observance represented the continuity of a distinctive heritage passed down through generations.
During the ceremony, members of Tripur Kshatriya Samaj offered prayers for the well-being of their beloved Maharaj, the prosperity and welfare of the State of Tripura, and the peace, strength, and progress of the Nation. The prayers reflected their devotion to the Divine Mother alongside their respect for the royal heritage and their sense of responsibility towards society and the country.
The programme was conducted under the leadership and guidance of Jogendra Deb Barma, President of TKS; Manoj Deb Barma, General Secretary of TKS; and Amarendra Deb Barma, Chairperson of TKS. The youth wing was represented by Bidyot Deb Barma, President of TKSYF, and Rajdwip Deb Barma, General Secretary of TKSYF. The observance also received the participation and support of Bwrwi B odol, Srimati Rita Deb Barma, and Srimati Suli Deb Barma.
The Mahasaptami celebration was more than a religious observance; it was a reaffirmation of the community’s cultural roots and collective identity. By reviving Sri Durga (Osha) Archana, Tripur Kshatriya Samaj sought to reconnect the present generation with the spiritual traditions of its ancestors and pass this heritage on to future generations.
The event stands as a meaningful step towards preserving Tipra traditions, strengthening community unity, and honouring the enduring cultural legacy of the Twipra people.
