Agartala, October 6, 2026: The Tripura Minorities Cooperative Development Corporation Limited has announced an initiative to distribute its remaining loan funds among unemployed youth and other eligible beneficiaries from minority communities to help them become self-reliant.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Md. Jasim Uddin, Chairman of the Tripura Minorities Cooperative Development Corporation Limited, said the corporation had received ₹2.89 crore from the National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation on May 28, 2026.
Of the total amount, ₹2,01,23,420 has already been disbursed as loans to eligible beneficiaries, while ₹87,76,580 remains available for further distribution.
Jasim Uddin said unemployed young men and women belonging to minority communities residing in Tripura can apply for loans under various schemes, including business and education loans. The interest rate is 6% for business loans and 3% for education loans.
He urged eligible applicants to complete the application process and submit the required documents at the corporation’s field supervisor offices in their respective blocks or at its headquarters at Lake Chowmuhani, Agartala.
The Chairman said the corporation has already extended the deadline for utilisation of the funds and is making efforts to distribute the remaining amount before Durga Puja so that the funds do not have to be returned to the authorities.
According to Jasim Uddin, the corporation has published notices several times through print media to inform eligible beneficiaries about the loan facility.
He said approximately 65% of the loans disbursed so far have gone towards business activities, while around 35% have been provided for education.
On loan recovery, Jasim Uddin said recovery had been poor for some loans sanctioned in earlier periods. However, following awareness and recovery campaigns, the situation has improved. He said the corporation currently recovers an average of around ₹60 lakh per month, compared with around ₹1 crore per month at one point in the past.
Regarding the requirement for a guarantor, the Chairman said a guarantor is generally necessary to facilitate loan recovery. However, he added that applicants having a fixed deposit certificate may also be able to use it for the loan process, subject to the corporation’s applicable conditions.
Jasim Uddin appealed to unemployed youth and other eligible beneficiaries to apply without delay so that the remaining ₹87.76 lakh can be distributed among deserving applicants before the extended deadline.
