Agartala, October 4: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday said the state government has prepared a master plan for developing modern infrastructure in all Nagar Panchayat and Municipal Council areas, besides continuing efforts to upgrade Agartala under the Smart City Mission.
Saha said the government was committed to ensuring that development and improved public services reached every section of society.
“Rising above politics, the government is implementing development programmes and delivering various services to the doorsteps of the people,” he said.
The chief minister was speaking after inaugurating a newly constructed two-storey ward office of Ward No. 43 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation at Pratapgarh. The office was built at a cost of Rs 97.43 lakh.
Saha said the state government was working to ensure that government schemes and services reached the last person in society, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of inclusive development.
He said several initiatives had been undertaken in Agartala in recent years to improve civic amenities, including drinking water supply, roads, drainage, housing, healthcare and livelihood opportunities.
Under the AMRUT 2.0 project, drinking water infrastructure has been developed at a cost of Rs 112 crore, while 16,000 families have so far been provided with potable water, he said.
Saha said 48 flats had been constructed for economically weaker sections and construction of two more housing projects was underway.
“Another set of programmes will be implemented under the AMRUT 3.0 project,” he said.
The chief minister said 65 projects had been implemented across Agartala under the Smart City Mission at a cost of Rs 581 crore.
He said the government was focusing on strengthening urban infrastructure as well as beautification of the state capital.
The master plan for Nagar Panchayats and Municipal Councils would help improve infrastructure and public services beyond Agartala, he said.
Saha said the government’s development initiatives were aimed at providing residents in urban and peripheral areas with better civic amenities and ensuring wider access to government services.
The inauguration programme was attended by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta, South Zone Chairman Abhijit Mallick and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Saju Wahid, among others.
