Tripura, 28 Sep 2026: At least three people were injured, including one who reportedly sustained a gunshot wound, during a clash in the Maharani Warengbari area of Udaipur sub-division on Monday in connection with the TTAADC Village Committee elections.
The injured were identified as Khachindra Reang, Naithak Jamatia and Udayram Reang. They were shifted to Gomati District Hospital for treatment, where a number of Tipra Motha supporters later gathered.
According to the injured, a group of youths arrived in around 10 to 15 vehicles from the Amarpur area and allegedly attacked people in Maharani Warengbari with sticks. They further alleged that two rounds were fired during the incident, leaving Khachindra Reang injured.
The incident triggered tension in the area, while police and the administration were monitoring the situation.
The exact cause of the clash and the identity of those who allegedly opened fire have not yet been established. Further details are expected to emerge after investigation.
