Lembucherra, Tripura, 22 September 2026: The Deeksharambh (Induction-cum-Foundation Course) 2026–27 for newly admitted B.F.Sc. first-year students of the College of Fisheries, Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Lembucherra, concluded on Tuesday after a two-week programme held from 7 to 22 September 2026. The programme was designed to facilitate students’ transition into college life through academic orientation, professional exposure, social interaction and experiential learning.
The College of Fisheries, a constituent college of CAU (Imphal), offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in fisheries science. Developed around four key pillars—Socializing, Associating, Acclimatizing and Experiencing—the Deeksharambh programme featured 43 sessions involving 16 expert/resource persons and six exposure visits. The activities covered academic orientation, career guidance, skill development, cultural engagement and experiential learning.
Students particularly appreciated the ice-breaking sessions, “Know Your Community”, “Directly from/to Dean”, expert and alumni interactions, as well as exposure visits to reputed institutions including NIT Agartala, ICAR, College of Agriculture, government fish seed and fish farms, and other institutional facilities. Student feedback reflected appreciation for the relevance and diversity of the sessions and the effective implementation of the programme.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Amitava Ghosh, Coordinator, along with Co-Coordinators Dr. Hoilenting and Mr. Abhay Singh. During the valedictory programme, the official video teaser of Deeksharambh 2026–27 was also released, showcasing major activities and experiences of the newly admitted students.
Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Mrs. Tanushri Bhattacharya, GM/OIC, NABARD–Tripura, highlighted the importance of the fisheries sector in ensuring nutritional security and generating employment opportunities. Prof. Arun B. Patel, Dean, expressed satisfaction over the smooth and successful organization of the programme, appreciated the efforts of the coordination team and acknowledged the support and guidance of Dr. Anupam Mishra, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, CAU (Imphal).
