Tripura, 22 Sep 2026: A residential house belonging to the family of Sudhir Roy, a resident of Gourang Tilla in Teliamura, was reportedly attached again on Tuesday over the alleged non-repayment of a business loan of around ₹30 lakh.
The action was carried out by Cholamandalam Finance Private Limited in the presence of administrative officials and a large police contingent. During the operation, household furniture and other belongings were removed from the premises before the house was taken under attachment once again.
According to information available, Sukmal Roy, a resident of Gourang Tilla, had reportedly taken a loan of around ₹30 lakh from the finance company in 2024 for his personal/business requirements. His father, Sudhir Roy, was reportedly named as the guarantor for the loan.
The finance company alleged that after the loan repayments were not made as scheduled, the house belonging to the guarantor was locked in 2025. The company reportedly maintained that the family had been advised to repay the outstanding loan or settle the dues through the sale of the property.
However, the finance company alleged that the administrative lock placed on the property was subsequently broken and Sukmal Roy resumed living in the house. The company further claimed that several requests were made to settle the outstanding loan, but the payments were not made.
Following this, the finance company carried out another operation at Gourang Tilla on Tuesday, accompanied by administrative officials and a large police force. Various household belongings were removed from the premises before the property was reportedly attached again.
The action has also raised concerns over the situation of Sukmal Roy’s elderly and reportedly ill parents, who are now facing uncertainty over their accommodation. With the house under attachment, the family is reportedly worried about where the elderly couple will stay.
The incident has brought the family’s financial difficulties and the issue of shelter for the elderly parents into focus. While the repayment of the loan remains a legal and financial matter, the condition of the elderly couple has emerged as a humanitarian concern in the locality.
Those present during the operation reportedly included Kaushik Bhagwati, Area Legal Manager of Cholamandalam Finance Private Limited, Genius Debbarma, DCM at the Teliamura Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s Office, and a large contingent of personnel from Teliamura Police Station.
The case has left the family facing a difficult situation—with an outstanding loan of around ₹30 lakh on one side and the loss of access to their home on the other. The immediate concern now remains the accommodation and welfare of the elderly parents.
