Tripura, September 22, 2026: Ahead of the Village Council elections scheduled to be held across Tripura on September 28, ballot voting for government employees assigned to election duty began at the Teliamura RD Block office on Tuesday.
The ballot voting process has been arranged to ensure that personnel deployed for election-related duties, including police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel, can exercise their franchise.
According to Biplab Acharya, BDO of Teliamura RD Block and Returning Officer for the Village Council election, a total of 52 voters from the Teliamura block have been assigned election-related duties. Of them, 51 are police and TSR personnel, while one is another government employee engaged in election duty.
The ballot voting began at 10:00 AM on Tuesday. By 10:45 AM, a total of 12 votes had been cast, according to information provided by the election authorities. The ballot voting process for election-duty personnel is scheduled to continue on Wednesday as well.
Administrative arrangements were in place at the block office to facilitate the voting process. Biplab Acharya said the ballot voting was proceeding peacefully and smoothly.
With ballot voting for personnel engaged in election duty now underway, preparations for the September 28 Village Council elections have moved forward another step.
