Tripura, 12 Sep 2026: Fresh controversy has emerged in the College Tilla area of Chailengta under Longtharai Valley Sub-Division over the alleged transportation of timber during the night.
According to sources, three vehicles allegedly loaded with timber were intercepted at around 1:30 AM yesterday. While two of the vehicles were reportedly taken to the Manu Forest Office, the third vehicle was allegedly released, raising questions among local residents.
Residents have questioned why all three vehicles were not subjected to the same action if they were allegedly involved in transporting timber. They have also raised concerns over whether any communication or settlement may have led to the release of the third vehicle.
Some residents have further alleged the possibility of a nexus involving certain individuals associated with the Forest Department and police administration. However, there is currently no confirmed evidence to substantiate these allegations, and no official statement from the concerned authorities has been issued so far.
The incident has also raised questions about how alleged timber transportation can take place under the cover of darkness despite regular monitoring by the Forest Department and administration.
Local residents have demanded a fair and impartial investigation into the matter and urged the authorities to clarify why one of the three vehicles was reportedly released and disclose the facts of the incident.
