Rasuwa, September 4: A major breakthrough has been reported in the rescue operation at Nepal’s Trishuli-3A Hydropower Project, where two workers were found alive inside a tunnel days after devastating floods hit the area.
The rescued men have been identified as Sanjay Sah and Kabir Maharjan. They were brought out safely on Friday by a coordinated team comprising personnel from the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and technical rescue teams.
According to rescuers, the two workers were located after members of the search team heard voices coming from deep inside the tunnel. After reaching them, the rescue personnel evacuated both men and arranged for them to receive medical care.
The rescue has also brought fresh hope for other workers who may still be inside the facility. Sah reportedly told the rescue team that several other trapped workers were alive and waiting to be evacuated.
Rescue personnel have continued their search inside the hydropower project despite challenging conditions. Floodwaters have left large quantities of mud and debris inside the facility, making access and evacuation difficult.
The successful recovery of Sah and Maharjan has provided a significant boost to the operation and raised hopes of finding more survivors following the devastating disaster that struck the region on August 26.
Teams remain engaged in the search as efforts continue to reach anyone else who may still be trapped underground.
