Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha held a high-level discussion with Dr. Joram Aniya, Member of NITI Aayog, during a courtesy visit to the Chief Minister’s official residence on Wednesday. The meeting focused on the implementation of development programmes, challenges associated with Centrally Sponsored Schemes and the future roadmap for Tripura’s growth.
During the interaction, Dr. Saha highlighted the progress of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes being implemented across the state and drew attention to challenges affecting their effective execution. He stressed the importance of stronger coordination between the Tripura government and NITI Aayog to speed up development initiatives and ensure that their benefits reach people at the grassroots level.
The Chief Minister also sought NITI Aayog’s support in several priority sectors, particularly school education, tourism, sports and the startup ecosystem. He said focused intervention and institutional assistance in these areas could play a significant role in strengthening Tripura’s economic prospects while creating better opportunities for its people.
School education remains crucial for improving human resource development, while tourism holds considerable potential for generating employment and strengthening the state economy. The discussions also highlighted the importance of promoting sports and creating a supportive environment for startups and entrepreneurship, particularly among the youth.
Both sides explored measures to strengthen institutional mechanisms and streamline administrative processes for faster and more effective implementation of development projects. Greater coordination between the state government, NITI Aayog and other stakeholders was identified as essential for overcoming implementation bottlenecks and improving outcomes.
The meeting also underlined the importance of aligning Tripura’s development priorities with broader national strategies while taking into account the state’s specific requirements and opportunities.
