Tripura, 15 August 2026: A woman died in a tragic road accident on the Agartala flyover on August 14 after reportedly falling from a moving motorcycle.
The deceased has been identified as Eli Debbarma, aged around 32, daughter of Bilash Debbarma and a resident of the Supuribagan area near Dasharath Bhavan.
According to preliminary information, Eli was travelling as a pillion rider on a motorcycle while returning home from a private hotel in the AD Nagar area. The motorcycle was reportedly travelling along the Agartala flyover when she lost balance and fell from the bike.
She was immediately taken to IGM Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
During questioning at the hospital, the motorcycle rider identified himself as Ajay Debbarma, aged 23, son of Rabindra Debbarma and a resident of Bodhjungnagar. He told police that Eli was sitting behind him and suddenly lost balance and fell from the motorcycle.
Police said they initially received information about a road traffic incident and rushed to IGM Hospital. Officers said the exact circumstances of the accident are still being investigated.
Police also stated that the exact cause of Eli Debbarma’s death will be confirmed after the post-mortem examination. Her body is expected to be sent to GB Pant Hospital for post-mortem.
The motorcycle rider, Ajay Debbarma, is currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway.
