Almora-based innovator Ravi Tamta and his team successfully conduct prototype flight test of electric personal aerial mobility vehicle
Uttarakhand, 8 August: A team of Indian innovators has taken another step towards developing personal aerial mobility in the country with the successful test flight of the HAPIDA SKYNeX, an indigenous prototype designed as a personal flying vehicle.
Developed by Almora-based innovator Ravi Tamta and his team at Hapida Sky Private Limited, the HAPIDA SKYNeX is an electric-powered aerial mobility prototype. The vehicle uses a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) configuration, similar to a helicopter, and is powered entirely by electric motors.
A video of the latest test flight shows the prototype successfully lifting off the ground, marking a significant milestone in the team’s efforts to develop electric personal flying mobility technology in India.
The ambitious project is being developed in the mountainous region of Almora, Uttarakhand, reflecting the growing interest among Indian innovators in advanced drone technology, electric propulsion and next-generation transportation systems.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also congratulated Ravi Tamta on the successful flight test through a social media post.
“Heartiest congratulations to Ravi Tamta ji, the young innovator from Almora, Uttarakhand, on the successful flight test of the HAPIDA SKYNEX prototype while innovating in drone technology,” Dhami said.
The Chief Minister described the achievement as evidence of the talent, innovation and scientific thinking among India’s youth. He said Tamta’s work could inspire young people not only in Uttarakhand but across the country.
Dhami further expressed confidence that Tamta would continue to achieve new milestones in science and technology through innovation and extended his best wishes for his future success.
The successful test of HAPIDA SKYNeX comes amid growing global interest in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) technologies, which aim to transform the future of short-distance personal and urban transportation.
While the SKYNeX remains a prototype and further development and testing will be required before any commercial deployment, its successful lift-off represents an important step in India’s emerging indigenous electric aerial mobility sector.
