New Delhi, July 31: A Zero FIR has been registered against 25-year-old Ruchika Singh for allegedly making abusive and derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on July 23, 2026.
The protest was organised over the alleged NEET examination paper leak. According to the complaint, videos circulating on social media purportedly show the woman making threatening and objectionable remarks directed at the Prime Minister.
The Zero FIR was registered at Expressway Police Station, Noida, under Sections 352, 353(1), and 356(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, before being transferred to the appropriate jurisdiction. The FIR was recorded on July 29, 2026, as reflected in the official document.

The complaint alleges that the remarks were intended to insult the dignity of the Prime Minister’s constitutional office and had the potential to disturb public peace.
Several social media posts have claimed that Ruchika Singh has been arrested, that she and her family are absconding, or have shared details about her workplace and personal life. However, these claims have not been officially confirmed by the police. As of now, there is no official confirmation that she has been arrested or taken into custody.
The FIR names Ruchika Singh as the accused, and the matter is currently under investigation. Police have not yet issued an official statement regarding any arrest or further legal action.
Authorities are expected to proceed with the investigation in accordance with the law.
