Tripura, July 17: Police have arrested two women in connection with the theft of a gold chain during the Rath Yatra celebrations in Udaipur on July 16.
The accused have been identified as Priya Das (46) and Sabitri Naidu (60), both residents of Guwahati, Assam.
According to police, the theft took place amid the heavy rush of devotees during the Rath Yatra procession. Following the incident, investigators reviewed evidence and conducted an inquiry, which led to the identification and arrest of the two women.
The accused are alleged to have stolen a gold chain by taking advantage of the crowded festival atmosphere.
Superintendent of Police said the investigation is ongoing, and further legal action is being taken in accordance with the law. Police are also examining whether the accused were involved in similar thefts during religious gatherings or public events.
