Tripura, 14 July 2026: An awareness programme aimed at educating school students about child rights and key social issues was held at Teliamura Higher Secondary School on Tuesday under the initiative of the Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
Speaking to the media, Swapna Debbarma said the commission has launched awareness programmes in different schools across the state to help children better understand their rights. She said a similar programme had earlier been organised in Mungiakami.
“Many children are still not fully aware of their rights. Through these programmes, we want to make them aware of issues such as child labour, child marriage and drug abuse,” Debbarma said.
She added that the initiative also aims to encourage students to spread awareness among their parents and people in their neighbourhoods.
The Teliamura programme was organised with the same objective—to help students understand their rights and gain knowledge about issues that may affect their safety and future.
Members of the commission, including Chameli Saha and Monika Debbarma, attended the programme. The principal of Teliamura Higher Secondary School was also present.
UNICEF resource person Anima Debbarma joined the awareness session and interacted with the students.
Debbarma said the commission hopes such programmes will help children become more aware, responsible and better prepared for a safe and brighter future.
