Ambassa, Apr 24. In a push to strengthen sports infrastructure and encourage youth participation, sports equipment worth ₹7.53 lakh was distributed among nine clubs and four schools in Ambassa on Friday under the BEUP (MLA Area Development) Fund scheme.
The distribution programme was held at the Ambassa Municipal Council conference hall under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office. The initiative aims to provide proper resources to both rural and urban players, helping them actively engage in sports.
MLA of 47-Ambassa Assembly Constituency, Chittaranjan Debbarma, attended the event as chief guest and inaugurated the programme. Among others present were Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Hemali Debbarma, Municipal Council Chairperson Pratima Malakar, Vice Chairman Gopal Sutradhar, SDM Rinku Reang, and DCM Moutusi Das.
Officials stated that the initiative is part of broader efforts to steer youth away from substance abuse and promote healthy lifestyles through sports. The distribution of equipment was met with enthusiasm from local players and club representatives.
Speakers at the event emphasised that sports play a crucial role in building physical fitness and mental well-being, and expressed hope that such initiatives would usher in a new phase of sporting development in the subdivision.
