South Tripura, Apr 18. A shocking case of alleged child murder has emerged from South Tripura’s Sabroom subdivision, where a toddler, Jisan Tripura, was reportedly beaten to death by his stepfather. The accused, identified as 26-year-old Ketu Tripura, has been detained by police.
According to initial reports, the incident took place in the Matumog Para area under Ratanmani ADC Village. The child was alone with the accused at home on the afternoon of the incident, as his mother was away. Upon returning, she found the toddler lying critically injured on the floor. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Family members have alleged that the accused frequently subjected both the woman and her child to physical abuse. They claim the child was assaulted with a stick, and multiple injury marks were visible on his body.
Police from Sabroom Police Station reached the spot soon after receiving information and took the accused into custody. A forensic team has also been deployed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.
The incident has triggered outrage in the locality, with residents and family members demanding a fair and impartial investigation along with strict punishment for the accused.
