Agartala, Apr 06. Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF), Tripura held its 13th Annual General Conference on Sunday at Hotel here, marking a significant organizational milestone with the formation of a new executive committee. Renowned folk singer Benita Laishram all performed in Agartala at the 13 years celebration of the PAWF, Tripura.
The conference was conducted in the presence of PAWF, Manipur Secretary Rakesh Naorem, who presided over the session. The existing committee was dissolved, following which 19 members from diverse professional backgrounds were elected to form the new executive body.
Eminent writer and cultural activist Kshetrimayum Madhabi was elected as the President of PAWF Tripura, while eminent social and cultural activist Ningombam Pranay assumed the role of Secretary.
L. Sandip was elected as Vice President, while A. Sarit and Leina Takhellambam were chosen as Assistant Secretaries. L. Sani Sharma took charge as Treasurer, and Shijagurumayum Anupam was elected as Publicity Secretary. Ch. Arbind, Kh. Uttara, and N. Amaran were elected as Joint Secretaries, while K. Kaushik assumed the position of Office Secretary.
Addressing the gathering, Rakesh Naorem highlighted that the PAWF Tripura branch was established on October 3, 2013, with the installation of a statue of Jananeta Hijam Irabot at Lalsingmura. He also noted that the forum was the first in the state to introduce the teaching of Meetei Mayek.
As part of the 13th anniversary celebrations, a grand cultural programme will be held on April 11 at Dasharath Deb Memorial Auditorium, Suparibagan, Agartala. The programme will feature a performance by renowned folk singer Benita Laishram and include a cultural exchange between Manipur and Tripura.
The newly elected executive members include K. Apurbita, Leishangthem Asha, Khwairakpam Langlen, Nongsatabam Shrudha, Th. Aman, Kh. Ranjana, Mayengbam Barnani Singha, and Khumanthem Anima.
The event was also attended by PAWF Tripura Founder President Gurumyum Biplab Sharma, PAWF Manipur Executive Member Nabakumar Oina, and Life Member Yengkhom Bhagyachandra, along with several prominent personalities from Tripura.
