Agartala, Apr 01. Placing its key demands at the forefront ahead of the TTAADC elections, the tri-alliance Congress-TPP-Ganamanch has promised a series of measures focused on corruption control, tribal welfare, and administrative reforms, while strongly attacking the BJP-led government.
The alliance led by Congress in a press meet said that if voted to power in ADC, it will immediately conduct a full investigation into all past corruption, unconstitutional and unethical activities, and take strict legal action against those found guilty. It also pledged to ensure constitutional strengthening of ADC, including proper financial and administrative structure and direct allocation of central funds.
Among major commitments, the alliance announced it will stop palm oil cultivation in hill areas, reclaim land allotted to corporates, and promote fisheries, fruits, vegetables, and rubber cultivation. It also promised restoration of water bodies, including Dumboor, and handing over management rights to local communities.
The alliance further assured steps for development of Kokborok language, recognition of Reang’s mother tongue Kaubru, and introduction of multiple tribal languages in school curriculum. Reopening of closed schools and recruitment of teachers in ADC areas have also been promised.
Measures for land restoration, scientific support for jhum cultivators, and formation of women’s courts were also highlighted as part of the agenda.
Targeting the BJP-led government, the alliance alleged widespread corruption, rising unemployment, price rise, and worsening conditions of tribal communities under PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. It claimed that tribal rights over land and forests have been weakened, benefiting corporate interests.
The alliance also criticised BJP’s regional partners, accusing them of misleading indigenous communities while indirectly helping the ruling party remain in power.
Appealing to voters, the alliance urged support for its candidates in 27 constituencies and for the TPP candidate in Simna-Tamakari, expressing confidence that people across the state will back this “positive and united step.”
