Tripura, 28 Feb 2026: In a late-night operation, police from Sonamura Police Station arrested three individuals, including a Bangladeshi national, an Indian tout, and a suspected drug peddler residing near the Zero Point border area.
According to Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tapas Das, the operation was carried out in the Durgaur border area under Sonamura Police Station. During the raid, police apprehended a Bangladeshi national identified as Yasin Arafat (19), son of late Masuk Mia, a resident of Songgris village under Kotwali Police Station in Comilla district, Bangladesh.
Along with him, an Indian tout identified as Abul Khair, son of Taher Mia, a resident of Ward No. 2, Durgapur under Sonamura Police Station, was also arrested. He is accused of providing shelter and assistance to the Bangladeshi national for illegal stay in India.
Additionally, police detained another individual suspected to be involved in drug-related activities from the Zero Point area.
A case has been registered at Sonamura Police Station under relevant sections of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, the newly enacted laws, and provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
OC Tapas Das informed that all the accused will be produced before the court on Saturday. Police have initiated detailed interrogation, and several leads have emerged regarding others allegedly involved in illegal cross-border activities.
Authorities stated that verification of the information is underway, and strict legal action will be taken against all those found connected to such unlawful activities.
