Tripura, Feb 22: A tragic road accident took place at Shantiniketan Para in Jolaibari at around 8:30 PM on Sunday, leaving one person critically injured.
According to reports, a Tata Jeeto vehicle bearing registration number TR08B1837 was on its way from Belonia towards Jolaibari when the accident occurred. The vehicle allegedly hit a man after coming from the wrong side of the road.
The injured person has been identified as Nipen Debnath (45). Local sources claimed that he was allegedly under the influence of intoxicants at the time of the incident.
Immediately after the accident, eyewitnesses informed the fire service. The fire service personnel promptly rescued the injured and rushed him to Jolaibari Primary Health Centre.
Considering his critical condition, the attending doctor referred him to Santirbazar District Hospital for advanced treatment.
Police have initiated an investigation into the incident. The accident has created tension and concern among residents in the area.
