Khowai: Feb 16. In a move aimed at boosting farm productivity and promoting modern agricultural practices, 42 farmers in Teliamura were provided with power weeders and power sprayers at a distribution programme organised by the Agriculture Department at the Teliamura Agriculture Sub-Divisional Office on Monday.
The farm equipment was distributed to selected beneficiaries to reduce manual labour, cut production costs, and enhance crop yield through the adoption of modern technology.
Local MLA and Chief Whip of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Kalyani Saha Roy, attended the programme as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, she reiterated the State Government’s commitment to the socio-economic upliftment of farmers and stressed that several welfare-oriented schemes have been introduced to prevent financial distress among cultivators.
She stated that the distribution of modern agricultural tools is part of ongoing efforts to make farming more profitable and sustainable. “With advanced machinery like power weeders and sprayers, farmers can save time, reduce physical strain, and increase productivity,” she said.
The MLA further claimed that earlier administrative shortcomings had created challenges for farmers, but the present government is taking practical steps to address their concerns.
Among others present were Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Dipa Deb, Vice-Chairperson Nirmal Sutradhar, Agriculture Sub-Divisional Officer Ritesh De, and other departmental officials.
The programme concluded on an optimistic note, with beneficiaries expressing hope that such initiatives would continue to strengthen the agricultural sector in the region.
