Khowai: Feb 11. In a move aimed at promoting alternative livelihood opportunities and women’s economic empowerment, the Voluntary Health Association of Tripura (VHAT), in collaboration with NABARD, has started a 15-day training camp on flower cultivation in Kalyanpur.
The programme was formally inaugurated at the local Matri Shakti CLF office through a brief ceremony. The initiative seeks to equip 30 selected women with practical, hands-on training in floriculture under the Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) scheme.
Among those present at the inauguration were Kalyanpur Agriculture Supervisor Debraj Barman, VHAT official Priyatosh Pal, successful flower cultivator Ratan Rudra Pal, and CLF President Ruma Sutradhar, along with other dignitaries.
Organisers stated that the training aims to create a positive environment for floriculture in the region and encourage women to explore sustainable income-generating activities beyond traditional farming practices.
The enthusiastic participation of women from various villages of Kalyanpur reflected growing interest in alternative economic avenues and self-reliance through skill development.
