Dharmanagar, Feb 10: As part of the nationwide MNREGA Save Movement, the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday held a preparatory meeting and joining programme in Dharmanagar to mobilise support for the proposed Raj Bhavan march in Agartala on February 17.
The meeting was presided over by Tripura Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, who emphasised the need for large-scale participation in the Agartala programme and outlined the party’s strategy to strengthen organisational activities in the district.
The programme was held at the Dharmanagar District Congress Bhavan, where party leaders discussed upcoming political activities and the roadmap for their implementation. Ensuring maximum participation in the Raj Bhavan march was identified as the key objective of the meeting.
Addressing mediapersons after the meeting, Ashish Kumar Saha highlighted the political significance of the MNREGA movement and stated that the Congress’s primary focus is to take on the BJP in the upcoming by-election in the 56-Dharmanagar Assembly constituency.
Several leaders from the Pradesh Congress Committee, including secretary Chayan Bhattacharjee, Indrajit Pal, Kabel Nandi, and Digvijay Chakraborty, along with district and block-level leaders, were present at the meeting.
On the same day, two advocates from Dharmanagar Bar Joseph Halam and Kalpajyoti Nath along with a former ruling party panchayat member from the Jubarajnagar Assembly Constituency, formally joined the Congress. Party leaders welcomed the new entrants by handing over party flags.
Political observers believe that the preparatory meeting will play a crucial role in energising the organisation ahead of the Agartala Raj Bhavan march.
