Tripura, 10 Feb 2026: Concerns over road safety are intensifying across Tripura as reckless driving and roadside parking continue to pose serious threats to commuters. The growing number of accidents highlights the urgent need for stricter traffic regulation and public awareness.
In a tragic road accident, a 3-month-and-20-day-old infant lost his life at Bagma under Killa Police Station on Monday.
According to sources, Sanjay Jamatia was returning home after picking up his daughter Sanbi Jamatia from Bishramganj Don Bosco School, accompanied by his younger brother Aman Jamatia and his infant nephew Riyan Jamatia.
While passing through the Bagma Karai-mura area, their vehicle rammed into the rear of a car that was parked on the roadside. The collision left Aman Jamatia, Sanbi Jamatia, and infant Riyan Jamatia injured.
The condition of infant Riyan Jamatia was reported to be critical. He was immediately rushed to Gomati District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The heartbreaking incident has once again brought road safety lapses into sharp focus. Locals allege that unregulated roadside parking and negligent driving are major contributors to the increasing number of fatal accidents in the state.
The incident has cast a pall of grief over the Bagma area, with residents demanding stronger traffic enforcement and preventive measures to avoid such tragedies in the future.
