Tripura, 09 Feb 2026: In a sensational development, five minor girls from Kanchanpur were rescued on Sunday evening from Hotel Debraj, located in the New Nagar area along the Agartala–Airport VIP Road under Airport Police Station limits. The rescue operation has triggered panic and widespread discussion in the locality.
According to police sources, personnel of Airport Police Station carried out the rescue and later brought the five minors to the police station, where preliminary investigation was initiated. However, neither the police nor the rescued minors have given any official statement regarding the incident so far.
Speaking on the matter, Kanchanpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Srikanta Rudrapal said that he had information about three minor girls from the Kanchanpur area who had gone missing earlier. He added that these girls were hostel residents and that a missing diary had already been registered at Kanchanpur Police Station. He further confirmed that Airport Police Station informed them about the recovery of five minor girls from a hotel on VIP Road. After completion of initial documentation, the minors will be formally handed over to Kanchanpur Police Station.
Meanwhile, the entire incident remains shrouded in mystery. According to local sources, the rescued minors were allegedly kept at Hotel Debraj with plans to traffic them via air route to Kolkata, West Bengal. It is also alleged that a broker or trafficking racket was involved in the operation. However, acting on specific intelligence inputs, Airport Police Station, under the leadership of Officer Abhijit Mondal, conducted a swift operation that foiled the alleged plan and rescued the five minors.
After being handed over to Kanchanpur Police Station, the minors are expected to be reunited with their families. The focus now shifts to the investigation by Kanchanpur Police, as it remains to be seen whether the probe can uncover the full truth behind the incident and expose any organized trafficking network linked to the case.
