Tripura, 09 Feb 2026: In a tragic incident from Tripura, a 17-year-old minor girl died by suicide after allegedly leaving behind a note accusing her lover of pushing her towards the extreme step. Acting on the complaint and the contents of the note, police have arrested the accused youth.
The incident took place in Kulai Thakur Palli area under Ambassa police station in Ambassa of Dhalai district.
According to police sources, the minor girl was found hanging inside her room. Family members noticed the incident and immediately informed the police. The body was recovered and sent for post-mortem examination.
The case took a more serious turn after the police recovered a suicide note allegedly written by the minor. In the note, she named a youth identified as Biswajit Deb, a resident of Ambassa’s Jawaharnagar area. The girl reportedly wrote that her parents were not responsible for her decision and alleged that the accused had destroyed her life, leaving her with no desire to live. She appealed to her family to ensure punishment for him.
Based on the suicide note, the victim’s family lodged a written complaint at Ambassa Women Police Station. A case was registered under Section 107 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for abetment of suicide.
Following the registration of the case, police promptly arrested the accused youth and produced him before the Dhalai District Court.
Confirming the development, Ambassa Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nirupam Dutta said that a report regarding the minor girl’s suicide, which occurred on February 4, 2026, was received by Ambassa Women Police Station. He stated that based on the family’s complaint alleging abetment to suicide, a case was registered, an investigation has begun, and one person has been arrested and produced before the court. The victim was 17 years old, he added.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the entire locality. The bereaved family remains devastated by the untimely death of the minor. Meanwhile, police officials have assured that all aspects of the case are being thoroughly investigated to uncover the full truth behind the tragic death.
