Tripura, 04 Feb 2026: Maharaja Pradyot Manikya Debbarma, founder and Supremo of Tipra Motha, once again sparked political debate in Tripura with a series of explosive remarks made during a Facebook Live interaction on Tuesday.
Speaking candidly, Pradyot Manikya asserted that if any instance of corruption is proven against Tipra Motha or its leadership, the government should take the strictest possible action.
“If there is corruption in our work, send us to jail send me to jail. We are ready. You have the power of the police, arrest me,” he said.
However, he strongly objected to the use of what he described as “objectionable and hurtful language” against Tipra Motha by an alliance partner. Expressing disappointment, he said such remarks had caused deep emotional hurt.
“Using such words against your own alliance partner has hurt us and caused us pain,” he remarked.
Drawing comparisons with the past, Pradyot Manikya said that even during the tenure of former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, such a situation never arose.
“Tipra Motha was formed in 2021, and at that time we were in the opposition. Our ideology and political position were different, yet we never faced such derogatory language or circumstances,” he noted.
He further pointed out that the country’s top leadership, including the Union Home Minister and the Prime Minister, have always communicated with Tipra Motha in a respectful manner. He urged that the same standard of political courtesy and dignity be maintained in state-level politics as well.
Pradyot Manikya’s remarks have reignited political discussions across Tripura, with political observers suggesting that the statements could have significant implications for the future of alliance politics in the state.
