Tripura, 01 Feb 2026: Tripura police arrested three Bangladeshi nationals along with two Indian intermediaries for their alleged involvement in illegal cross-border infiltration on today. The arrests were made from the Paitar Bazar area following specific intelligence inputs.
According to police sources, information was received early in the morning that a group of Bangladeshi nationals was attempting to enter Indian territory using a Maruti Omni vehicle. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, police personnel in plain clothes laid a trap in the Paitar Bazar area.
A Maruti Omni vehicle bearing registration number TR-02-F-0786 was intercepted and searched, during which five persons, including the driver, were detained. Three of them were identified as Bangladeshi nationals Arman Hossain, Imran Hossain and Monir Hossain, all residents of Cumilla district, Bangladesh.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the infiltration attempt was allegedly facilitated by two local Indian agents, identified as Faruk Miah and Abdul Kaiyum, residents of the Rangauti area.
Police have registered a case in connection with the incident under Case No. 9/2026. All five accused are currently in police custody and are being interrogated to ascertain whether more individuals are linked to the racket. They are scheduled to be produced before the court on Wednesday.
Further investigation is underway.
