Agartala: Nov 29. “Every year, just before the CBSE exams, we are told our students must write Kokborok in Bengali script against their will and this year will be no different. Everyone must be prepared,” the remark came from Royal Scion and Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, who cautioned that the issue could once again spark controversy and push people onto the streets if not handled early.
Bubagra Pradyot urged parents and students to understand the reality. “At the last moment nothing will change. Everyone must understand this,” he cautioned.
He stressed that young boys and girls should not fail their Kokborok exam simply because they are unable to write it in Bengali script.
He added that he has already informed the state government that sending the matter to Delhi at the final hour has no impact. “It is our future. It shouldn’t be decided in Delhi or in Agartala, but by Tiprasa,” he asserted.
Reiterating the Tiprasa’s stand, Bubagra Pradyot stated that the decision to write Kokborok in Roman script has already been made. The priority now, he stressed, is to create awareness so that students remain prepared and the previous years’ last-minute confusion is not repeated.
