Tripura, 27 Nov 2025: The political tensions that gripped Dharmanagar throughout Wednesday spilled over into Kadamtala late at night. Kadamtala Mandal Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers filed a complaint at Kadamtala Police Station, alleging that former Mandal Youth Morcha president Amitabh Nath was harassed and nearly assaulted by Congress workers in Dharmanagar.

According to the complaint, Amitabh Nath had travelled to Dharmanagar with his mother for banking-related work on Wednesday afternoon. During the ongoing political unrest in the town, a group of Congress leaders allegedly hurled abuses at him and then attempted to attack him near the Congress office. Nath reportedly managed to escape the scene with the help of Dharmanagar Police personnel.
In protest, around 8 PM, a large group of Youth Morcha leaders, workers and supporters reached Kadamtala Police Station and submitted a written complaint to Officer-in-Charge L. Sangma.
The complaint further stated that the incident could potentially disturb the peace and normalcy of Kadamtala, a region still recovering from last year’s untoward incident in Kadamtala market. The Youth Morcha urged the police administration not to grant permission for any political programmes in the area for the next few days to prevent possible unrest.
They have also demanded that those involved in the alleged attempt to assault Youth Morcha leader Amitabh Nath be identified and strict action be taken against them.
