Agartala: Nov 20. Under the Skill Development initiative, 181 residents of the Bru Rehabilition Centre at Bruha Para, Ambassa received essential livelihood-support tools on Thursday after completing their respective training programmes.
Ambassa RD Block BAC Chairman Parimal Debbarma, Joint Director of the Directorate of Skill Development Munmun Debbarma, and BDO Barnita Biswas were present at the programme.
A total of 181 beneficiaries received tools to help them become self-reliant. According to Joint Director Munmun Debbarma, 66 received sewing machines, 33 carpenters got toolkits, 22 beneficiaries received candle-making materials, 22 handloom trainees were given weaving support kits, and 25 electrician trainees received toolkits. Beneficiaries trained in other trades were also handed their respective support materials.
So far, 594 residents of the rehabilitation centre have been trained based on their eligibility. The department is now distributing toolkits based on skill-performance. The Joint Director added that the second phase of training will begin soon.
Members of the Bru community expressed happiness and thanked both the state and central governments for the support.
