Agartala: Nov 14. In a show of unity, local reporters collectively boycotted a press conference called on Friday for Tripura Tourism’s upcoming “Unity Promo Fest at Udaipur under Gomati District,” after claiming they were met with blatant disregard and made to wait without any courtesy.
According to journalists and Media personnel, the Information & Cultural Affairs (ICA) Department had invited media representatives for a 5 PM briefing. Reporters arrived on time, but no official or representative came forward to greet them, share updates, or explain the delay even after nearly an hour of waiting. The absence of basic courtesy like refreshment sparked visible frustration.
Journalists later said such treatment was “unprofessional,” “disrespectful,” and a “complete display of apathy.” They argued that ignoring the press also means undermining the public’s right to information, which news organisations uphold.
Tripura Tourism has not issued any response yet. Reporters warned that if such incidents recur, they will take an even tougher stand.
