Tripura, 10 Nov 2025: In a remarkable achievement, Gomati District Hospital conducted 12 successful surgeries in a single day, reflecting significant progress in the hospital’s healthcare services. Among these was a critical breast cancer surgery performed on a woman from Amarpur.
Hospital surgeon Dr. Biswajit Pal shared the details of this success, stating that the day’s total included one cancer surgery, five major operations, and six minor ones. The operations were carried out by a medical team comprising Dr. Amarish Bhowmik and Dr. Moutusi Choudhury, alongside Dr. Pal. He further mentioned that all the procedures were conducted free of cost under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana schemes.
Over the past week, the hospital has completed 52 surgeries, and the total for the past month has exceeded 200 operations. These include procedures across various departments such as gynecology, general surgery, ophthalmology, ENT, and orthopedics.
Meanwhile, the hospital is undergoing extensive work to bring it under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) framework. Medical Superintendent Dr. Kajal Kumar Das stated that special emphasis is being placed on improving services in every department. Wards have been expanded, and strict attention is being given to cleanliness and infrastructure upgrades.
Additionally, the women and child care departments have been shifted to a newly constructed building. With these continuous efforts, Gomati District Hospital is fast emerging as a hub of quality healthcare for the public, according to a statement from the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Gomati District.
