Agartala: Nov 10. Tripura Leader of Opposition and CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury on Monday launched a blistering attack on the BJP-led state government and its allies Tipra Motha and IPFT, accusing them of running the administration on fake promises, black money, and rampant corruption both in the state government and the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
Addressing a massive CITU rally in Orient Chowmuhuni area of Agartala, Chaudhury said the overwhelming presence of workers, youth, and marginalized communities signaled a growing wave of resistance against the ruling dispensation.
“The working people cannot be defeated and today you have proved it,” he declared, drawing applause from the crowd.
Chaudhury alleged that the government had deliberately obstructed opposition programs by scheduling religious and commercial events at the historic Astabal Maidan, a traditional venue for political gatherings. He claimed that the BJP–IPFT–Tipra Motha alliance had become directionless and panicked amid rising public discontent.
Chaudhary also accused the administration of misusing public funds, saying crores spent on infrastructure were now being diverted to commercial fairs instead of democratic purposes. He emphasized that the rally represented not a fundraising drive or unrealistic appeal, but a genuine people’s movement demanding fair recognition for labour, skill, and talent.
“The ruling coalition survives on deceit and black money. Corruption, intimidation, and the suppression of democratic voices are increasing daily in Tripura,” Chaudhury alleged.
Linking Tripura’s political scenario to national developments, he suggested that a potential BJP setback in the upcoming Bihar elections could signal the beginning of the party’s decline at the national level.
Concluding his address, the Leader of Opposition called on the people to intensify the fight to safeguard democratic rights, pointing to rising crime, drug abuse, and moral decay as proof of administrative failure. He vowed to continue statewide movements in defense of the rights and welfare of farmers and working people.
