Agartala: Nov 10. Dhalai District Hospital has been awarded the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification becoming the first hospital in Tripura to receive this prestigious recognition.
Confirming the achievement, Dr. Bidhan Bhowmik, Medical Superintendent of Dhalai District Hospital, said that a NQAS assessment team evaluated 17 departments of the hospital. “A minimum score of 70% is required for NQAS certification, and our hospital has achieved an impressive 91%, possibly the highest in the entire North Eastern region,” he stated.
Dr. Bhowmik noted that the certification is a major milestone for the hospital and the state’s healthcare system. “This achievement will further enhance the quality of service. We expect improvements not only in medical care but also in allied facilities and administrative practices,” he added.
According to Dr. Bhowmik, among the 151 district hospitals across the eight northeastern states including Sikkim, only eight hospitals have earned the NQAS certification so far with Dhalai District Hospital being the first from Tripura.
He attributed the success to the collective effort of doctors, nurses, and support staff.
