Tripura, 09 Nov 2025: The rampage of forest smugglers continues across the Bishalgarh subdivision. Acting on a tip-off, officials of the Charilam Forest Department’s Jampuijala Forest Protection Unit, led by Officer-in-Charge Bijoy Ghosh, conducted a surprise raid deep inside the forest area of Uttam Bhakta Chaumuhani.
During the operation, forest officials recovered an illegal sawmill and a generator used for timber processing. The forest offenders managed to flee the scene before the team arrived.
Since taking charge recently, Officer Bijoy Ghosh has been spearheading a series of anti-smuggling operations across the subdivision. According to sources, some miscreants with alleged political backing have been engaged in illicit logging and illegal trade of forest resources, especially under the cover of night.
Declaring a strong stance against forest crimes, Officer Bijoy Ghosh stated, “We are committed to protecting our forest resources even if it costs our lives.”
