Tripura, 06 Nov 2025: In a major breakthrough in the state’s ongoing fight against narcotics, police in Udaipur achieved significant success during an anti-drug operation on Wednesday evening. Acting on a tip-off, a special team led by the Officer-in-Charge of Udaipur Police Station conducted a raid at the Udaipur railway station area around 7:30 p.m. and arrested three individuals with heroin-like substances.

According to police officials, the operation was based on specific intelligence that drug transactions had been taking place in and around the railway station for quite some time. During the raid, three youths were found loitering suspiciously. Upon being searched, police recovered a substantial quantity of heroin-type narcotics, estimated to be worth around ₹5 lakh in the illegal market.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Shazmul Islam (22), Farid Akhtar (23), and Selim Uddin (36) the latter reportedly serving as a BSF personnel. Preliminary investigation suggests that the trio are part of an inter-state smuggling network that uses railway routes to distribute drugs across different regions of Tripura.
The case has been handed over to the Radhakishorepur Police Station for further investigation. Authorities suspect the involvement of a larger drug trafficking ring operating within and beyond the state.
Police have reiterated their commitment to intensify anti-narcotics operations, emphasizing that such efforts will continue to protect the youth of Tripura from the growing menace of drug abuse.
