Tripura, October 25, 2025: In the aftermath of the October 23 violence in Shantirbazar under Kamalpur subdivision, the Tripura government has begun providing assistance to affected individuals. As directed by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, interim relief has been extended to 55 people impacted by the incident.
According to the official statement, “Additional relief or ex-gratia assistance will be provided as per government norms upon completion of the detailed assessment of the damage occurred.” The Chief Minister earlier condemned the violent incident and instructed officials to take swift and strict action against those responsible.

However, local rapper and artist Zwing Lee, whose property was reportedly vandalised and damaged by miscreants on the night of the violence, has alleged that his name is missing from the list of beneficiaries who received interim relief.
In a video statement shared on social media, Zwing Lee expressed frustration over the government’s inaction and narrated the events of that night:
“My property was damaged and vandalised by unidentified miscreants on the night of the 23rd, following the strike organized by the Tripura Civil Society. On that day, I strictly adhered to the guidelines which instructed all shop owners to keep their establishments closed. Accordingly, my shops and restaurant remained shut throughout the day and night.”
He further explained,
“Around 5 p.m., clashes broke out when a few shopkeepers opened their stores in violation of the bandh guidelines. Later, by 10 p.m., police and TSR personnel were dispersing the groups involved. However, around 11:30 p.m., I received several calls alerting me that my property was being attacked and set on fire. Despite reaching out to people in influential political positions for help, I received no support.”
Expressing disappointment at being excluded from the official relief list, he added,
“Today, when the list of affected property owners was released, I found my name was not included. The damage to my property amounts to several lakhs of rupees. Who will take responsibility for this loss? What was my fault in all this, and who will be held accountable?”
Authorities have not yet commented on Zwing Lee’s allegations. Meanwhile, security remains tightened in Shantirbazar and surrounding areas as the investigation into the violent clashes continues.
