Tripura, 22 Oct 2025: A shocking incident of attempted murder took place in the Bodhjungnagar area on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred at Sudhanshu Das’s house in the Shantipara Panchayat area under Bodhjungnagar Police Station, where two women Sukharani Debbarma and Rupa Debbarma were living in separate rented rooms.
According to reports, an argument broke out between the two women over a personal issue, which soon turned violent. Sukharani allegedly attacked Rupa with a blunt object, leaving her critically injured and covered in blood. Locals immediately alerted the police and fire service, who rushed to the spot. Fire service personnel rescued the injured Rupa and shifted her to GBP Hospital in critical condition.
Eyewitness Ratan Das, a local resident, told the media, “We heard loud noises and rushed to the spot. Rupa was lying unconscious and bleeding, while the other woman was sitting nearby. Both of them work at the same hotel named ‘Sapmokri Hotel’ and have been living here for about eight to nine months.”
Police later detained the accused, identified as Ria (Sukharani) Debbarma, who was reportedly under the influence of intoxicants at the time of the assault.
Speaking to the media, Sukharani confessed, saying, “Rupa always suspected me of having an affair with her husband, Kamal Debbarma. Out of anger, I hit her. She kept accusing me for no reason.”
Bodhjungnagar Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.
