AGMC and GBP Hospital to be Developed into a Medical Hub, Says Chief Minister
Agartala, October 15: In a major initiative to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and ensure advanced medical services for the people of Tripura, the State Government today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. The MoU was signed between the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Tripura, and AIIMS.
The signing ceremony took place at Tripura Bhawan in New Delhi in the presence of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Saha said the MoU marks a proud moment for Tripura as it aims to transform state and district-level hospitals, including medical colleges, into centers of excellence in medical education and super-specialty healthcare aligned with international standards.
He added that the Government envisions developing the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital into a modern medical hub equipped with advanced facilities, modeled on the excellence of AIIMS, New Delhi.
Highlighting AIIMS as a globally reputed institution known for its excellence in medical education, research, and advanced patient care, Dr. Saha said the collaboration will significantly enhance the quality and reach of healthcare services across Tripura.
The event was attended by AIIMS Director Dr. M. Srinivas and senior officials of the Tripura Health Department.
