Tripura, October 14: A shocking incident early this morning at Chakamaghat under Teliamura Police Station the body of a young man was found under a culvert near the roadside.
The deceased has been identified as Bakul Chandra Nath, a resident of Chakmadui near Rupanath Temple.
Upon receiving the information, Teliamura Police led by the Officer-in-Charge rushed to the spot and began investigation.
The victim’s father, Murul Chandra Nath, alleged that his son was murdered and dumped under the culvert.
“That’s my son! They killed him and threw him here,” the father said, adding that he came to know about the incident from a local who noticed the body early in the morning.
“My son used to drive vehicles. I don’t know who killed him, but there are visible injury marks,” he added.
A local resident at the scene said —
“Actually, the body was found inside a small drain-like area near the main road. The deceased, identified as Bhojon Debnath, lived near Loknath Ashram Temple in Chakamaghat. Foam was coming out of his mouth. He had a past history of drug addiction and petty thefts. We have called the FSL team. The cause of death can only be confirmed after investigation.”
Police have sent the body for post-mortem examination. Preliminary observations suggest an unnatural death, but whether it was murder or something else will be determined after further investigation.
