Tripura, 5 Oct 2025: Sensations gripped the Melapathar area under Teliamura Police Station after the body of a housewife was found stuffed inside a sack in a house Yesterday. According to reports, local residents noticed a foul smell coming from the house earlier in the evening and immediately informed the Teliamura Police Station.
Police personnel rushed to the spot and discovered the decomposed body of a woman packed inside a sack. Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was identified through her father, Ratan Chandra Mudak, a resident of Rajnagar.
Police said the deceased woman was identified as Sharmistha Modak (36), who lived alone in the house. Her father told the police that she was earlier married to Gautam Banik, a resident of Kanchanpur, but the two got divorced later. After living alone for some time, she remarried Gopal Modak, and they had been living together in the same house.
The sudden discovery of her body has caused widespread shock and panic in the area. Police have started an investigation to determine the cause and circumstances of her death.
