Rajasthan, April 19: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Mahajan Police in Bikaner district seized 59.445 kilograms of doda posta and ₹3 lakh in cash from a vehicle late Thursday night. A man and a woman involved in the alleged smuggling operation were arrested on the spot. The seizure was made during a routine night patrol and checkpoint operation conducted under Operation Flush Out.
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a Swift car (RJ13 CE 4544) near Mahajan and recovered the contraband following a thorough search. The accused have been identified as Ramesh alias Amit Bohra (37), a resident of Bilochia in Sri Ganganagar district, and Rani alias Amritpal Kaur (40), a resident of Dalianwali, Bhagsar, under Lalgarh Jatan police station, also in Sri Ganganagar. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Kavendra Singh Sagar, Additional SP Kailash Singh Sandhu, and Circle Officer Narendra Poonia (RPS), with Mahajan SHO Kashyap Singh and his team leading the on-ground action.
An FIR (No. 57/19.04.2025) has been registered under sections 8/15 and 25 of the NDPS Act. The investigation has been handed over to Ganesh Kumar, SHO of Lunkaransar Police Station. According to police sources, the accused duo attempted to evade suspicion by posing as a family traveling together. “The main accused, Ramesh, often used a female companion during transportation of contraband to create the illusion of a family trip,” said an officer involved in the investigation. Both accused are currently being interrogated, and police are working to identify and apprehend other members of the smuggling network.
