Governor Highlights Key Role of Agricultural Science Centers in Rural Development at Salema Discussion Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agartala, October 29, 2024:<\/strong> Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu emphasized the integral role of Agricultural Science Centers (Krishi Vigyan Kendras) in enhancing the livelihoods and quality of life of rural communities. Addressing a discussion meeting at the Agricultural Science Center in Salema, Dhalai district, the Governor highlighted the diverse training programs these centers provide to farmers in crop cultivation, horticulture, and livestock rearing, as well as the support in quality seed distribution aimed at increasing agricultural productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Nallu noted that Dhalai district has been designated as an Aspirational District, with the central government actively working on development initiatives across such districts nationwide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He encouraged the Agricultural Science Center officials to arrange exposure visits for local farmers to other districts or states to expand their knowledge and skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Present at the meeting were MLA Swapna Das Paul, Dhalai Zilla Parishad Chairperson Sushmita Das, MLA Chittaranjan Debbarma, Ambassa Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Bhumikananda Reang, and former MLA Parimal Debbarma. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The District Magistrate of Dhalai, Saju Wahid A., delivered the welcome address. Abhijit Debnath, Senior Scientist and Head of the Salema Agricultural Science Center, briefed the Governor on the center\u2019s activities and programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Nallu also visited the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) stalls at the Agricultural Science Center and engaged with local farmers and self-help group members. Additionally, he participated in a tree-planting ceremony on the center\u2019s premises and inspected various units and farms within the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials present during the Governor\u2019s visit included MLA Swapna Das Paul, District Magistrate Saju Wahid A., Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai, Joint Secretary to the Governor Ratan Bhowmik, and other scientists and officials from the Agricultural Science Center.
