Pecharthal, 19th October 2024<\/strong> : The two-day 32nd Statewide Hojagiri Festival was inaugurated today at the Ramguna Chowdhury Para Higher Secondary School grounds in Machmara, Pecharthal Block. Organized by the Blue Socio-Cultural Organization with support from various state government departments, the event aims to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage of the tribal communities in Tripura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy inaugurated the festival, emphasizing the government\u2019s commitment to the development and preservation of tribal culture. He stated, \u201cThe government has prioritized the growth of tribal traditions and culture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hojagiri Festival is not limited to just the Hojagiri dance. It is a reflection of the sentiments, hopes, and emotions of the Bru community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his speech, the minister highlighted the numerous initiatives taken by the government for tribal development since 2018. He mentioned that tribal leaders like Satyaram Reang, Benimadhab Jamatia, and Thanga Darlong were honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award for their contributions to the preservation of tribal culture. Additionally, the government has improved rural infrastructure and established a committee to include the Bru language in the educational curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was also attended by Co-operation Minister Shuklacharan Noatia, who remarked on the importance of recognizing and promoting the social and cultural practices of every community in the state. He noted that the state government has been providing honorary allowances to tribal leaders as a mark of respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several prominent figures, including the Executive Member of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, Suhel Debbarma, MLAs Bhagaban Chandra Das, Pramod Reang, and Phillip Kumar Reang, and other local dignitaries, were present at the inauguration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The festival, a cornerstone event for the Bru community, showcases the government\u2019s ongoing efforts to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the tribal people while ensuring their cultural heritage is preserved for future generations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
