Agartala, October 01, 2024: <\/strong>Tripura’s Minister of Industries and Commerce, Smt. Santana Chakma, today launched the RAMP (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance) project in the state, aimed at enhancing the performance of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector with support from the World Bank. The initiative underscores the crucial role MSMEs play in driving economic self-reliance in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the launch event, Minister Chakma emphasized the importance of MSMEs in strengthening Tripura\u2019s economic fabric. She highlighted the need for entrepreneurs to stay informed about various central and state government schemes designed to support the growth of these industries. The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to standing by the entrepreneurs while urging them to continue striving with diligence and resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with the launch of the RAMP project, the minister inaugurated a comprehensive awareness workshop and the ‘Yashaswini Abhiyan’ to promote various central schemes aimed at MSME growth. The event witnessed the participation of self-entrepreneurs, self-help group members, and representatives from various departments and agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During her address, Minister Chakma pointed out that Tripura\u2019s MSME sector is predominantly comprised of rubber, food processing, and bamboo-based industries, with 98% of the state’s industries falling under the MSME category. Many of these industries have benefitted from schemes like PMEGP and Swavalamban, with 932 beneficiaries receiving loans under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event also saw the presence of Mr. Kiran Gitte, Secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce, who noted that MSMEs contribute around 11% to the state’s GDP. He stressed the need to further increase this contribution and mentioned that the RAMP scheme will run for the next three years, with a goal to develop 3,200 model entrepreneurs in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Binamra Mishra, Director of the Ministry of MSME (GA & TP), shared that Tripura is the second state in India to roll out the RAMP scheme. The state will receive a total of \u20b965 crore for the implementation of this initiative, which is set to provide comprehensive support to resolve issues such as marketing, technology use, and financial infrastructure in the MSME sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Yashaswini Abhiyan will focus on empowering women entrepreneurs by educating them on business growth strategies. A documentary showcasing the initiative was also presented during the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
